Boston Bruins Goalie Shows Why He Is An All-Star

WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama saluted the NHL’s Boston Bruins for their 2011 Stanley Cup championship on Monday — at least some of them.

Conspicuous by his absence was Tim Thomas, who is known best for being the Bruins’ goaltender but is also a right-winger. Thomas, who lists ultra-conservative commentator Glenn Beck among his heroes, had told the team some time ago that he wouldn’t attend because he objects to Obama’s policies.

At the risk of being the last in a long line of annoying commenters on the subject.... but shouldn't the tile of your blog read:
"A CAW Worker's Voice of Reason"?

He should have been there, if for no other reason than to be with his teamates for a major event. No NHL players snubbed George Bush in 8 years of Presidency for "political reasons", and I'm sure there were at least a few vehemently opposed to his politics.

Just go meet the damned President, right wing or left wing.

I agree with Ice. Like him or not, Mr Obama is the President. By staying away, the goalie showed disrespect for the office and, by extension, for the country.

Suppose - miracles happen - a Canadian team had won, say Vancouver. Would you have applauded their goalie if he delined to participate in an event with Mr Harper because he was left wing?

Actually, I agree from a team asprect Thomas should have attended, The post is more to display once again msm hypocrisy.

When the page in the HoC broke parliamentry tradition she was hailed by the media as being brave. In instances where Bush was snubbed said persons wete also hailed as heroes by media.

Yet the media now portrays Thomas as some Ultra-Right wing tea party hack. Those were the eact words used by a Boston journalist on TSN and CBC yesterday.
